A Growing Threat to Dogs in Hanoi

In Hanoi, poison baits are a serious and growing danger. Whether left out to control rats or placed with malicious intent, these baits are often found on footpaths, in parks, and along the streets where dogs walk and play. Disguised as food—meat, fish, bread or leftovers—they’re nearly impossible to spot before it’s too late.

Dogs that ingest bait often suffer a slow and agonising death. Others may survive emergency treatment but are left with lifelong health complications, including organ damage and neurological issues. Unfortunately, this danger is all too common in Hanoi—but with proper training, it can be prevented.

Train for Real Life—Not Just Theory

My Poison Bait and Snake Avoidance Training prepares your dog for real-world threats using realistic, practical training. Dogs are conditioned to avoid bait laced with various toxins hidden in different food types—just like they might encounter on the street. For snake avoidance, I use live snakes under strict safety controls to train your dog to detect and avoid snakes by scent, sound, and sight.

This isn’t symbolic training—it’s practical, hands-on, and builds a reliable automatic avoidance response. Whether your dog is on-lead in the city or off-lead in parks or rural areas, this training could one day save their life.

Available with Our Board & Train Programs

Avoidance training will be available as part of our Board & Train programs starting in July at Hanoi’s new international-standard boarding and training facility. If your dog is staying with us, why not use that time to include life-saving poison bait and snake avoidance training?

We also offer refresher and reinforcement training during every boarding stay—either built into your dog’s daily routine or arranged as a dedicated one-on-one session. And because dogs often encounter danger in familiar places, we also provide refresher training at the locations your dog regularly visits, such as your neighbourhood, local parks, or walking routes. This real-world reinforcement helps solidify their training where it matters most.

Prevention is Peace of Mind

This training empowers your dog with critical survival instincts and gives you the confidence of knowing they are far less likely to fall victim to a devastating, but preventable, tragedy.

In-Home Poison Bait Avoidance Training – Available as of 16 May 2025

While we prepare to launch our Board & Train programs, I’m offering Poison Bait Avoidance Training as a home-based service. This is a 5-day course delivered over five consecutive days, with 2 training session each day. Each session is conducted in the local areas your dog regularly visits, such as your neighbourhood streets and nearby parks—so the training is directly relevant to real-life threats your dog is likely to encounter. These training sessions can be conducted during your dogs regular daily walks. I will attend your home in the morning and then again in the afternoon/evening to take your dog for its walk and training session. Each session is around 30 to 40 minutes

This is an ideal option for owners who want immediate protection for their dog before our full facility opens.
